
Finance Director
Work location: Remote, with occasional meetings and socials in London (or online)
Salary: This is an unpaid volunteer role, unremunerated
Minimum time commitment: Four board meetings per year (2 hours each), plus approximately 8-10 hours per month to support the running of the organisation through your skills and expertise
Working with: CEO, other Directors and tour guides/experience providers
The key duties and responsibilities of a Director at Unseen Tours are as below:
- Ensure the social enterprise complies with its governing document, legal and regulatory requirements, and key objectives with integrity.
- Establish and uphold a clear vision, mission, strategic direction, and governance standards to achieve its goals.
- Safeguard the reputation, values, and financial stability of the enterprise, including proper fund management and fundraising efforts.
- Oversee the effective and efficient administration of the organisation and the performance of its leadership, including appointing and monitoring the CEO.
- Contribute proactively to the organisation’s mission through ideas, opinions, and connections, while fostering diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
- Understand and embrace the responsibilities, duties, and teamwork required as a Director to uphold the organisation’s standards and commitments.
As the Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and advising on our financial operations and ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of our social enterprise. Your core role will be to inform the Board of Directors’ discussions of financial matters. Candidates should therefore be skilled and experienced in interpreting financial information and explaining it to a non-specialist audience.
Responsibilities of the Finance Director include:
- Lead the development and maintenance of robust financial systems to ensure compliance with financial procedures, statutory regulations, and obligations while effectively managing related risks.
- Build and enhance the organisation’s financial capabilities, providing leadership and guidance to strengthen financial performance and regulatory compliance.
- Lead on the monthly finance meetings, and contribute to the quarterly director’s meetings.
- Review monthly management accounts/financial information.
- Compile annual budget and accounts with CEO and other directors.
- Keep track of progress against budget targets in monthly finance meetings.
Please note that Management Accounts and our statutory Accounts are prepared by an external accountancy firm, so this will not be a key responsibility of the Finance Director.
We’re looking for someone who has the following expertise and experience:
- Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and engage in strategy development and execution, and understanding of business operating models.
- Ability to work well with external accountants and other outside agencies.
- Able to identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies.
- Experience with financial planning and long-term investment decisions – including funding applications, reporting to funders, and supporting the development of our business strategy.
- Ability to understand financial statements, reconcile budgets against financial metrics and critically assess accounts.
- Passion for Unseen Tours’ mission and values.
In addition to the above, the following points are desirable:
- Experience as a Finance Director or in a similar senior financial leadership role, and building confidence and credibility at that level.
- Experience working in the tourism industry, social enterprise or charity sector, or with people with experience of homelessness.
- Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Responsibilities of the Business Development Director include:
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership and the Board.
- Develop and implement effective business development strategies.
- Identify and pursue networking opportunities to create partnerships and expand B2B sales, particularly with corporate audiences.
- Act as a sounding board for new product ideas and strategies for income generation.
- Share relevant connections to strengthen Unseen Tours’ industry presence and collaborations.
We’re looking for someone who has the following expertise and experience:
- Solid experience in business or commerce.
- Understanding of revenue generation through sales, marketing, and innovative income streams.
- Experience with social enterprises or mission-driven organisations.
- Strong networking, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with good judgment and creativity.
- Experience in team building, mentoring, and performance management.

Work location: Hybrid. Remote working, with attendance of our walking tours alongside occasional meetings and socials in London (or online)
Minimum commitment: 1 year

Time commitment: Approximately 6-8 hours per month
Working with: CEO, Operations Manager and tour guides/experience providers
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Photographer/Videographer Volunteer to help expand our online presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and other online platforms. You’ll bring your creative ingenuity to capture photos and videos of our tours which will be used on our website and social media to foster community engagement and showcase the powerful stories of our guides.
Responsibilities of the Photographer/Videographer Volunteer include:
- Attend walking tours to capture photos and produce video content for use on our website and social media.
- Engage with tour attendees, encouraging them to take their own photos and share with our team.
- Work with our team and our social media volunteer to create engaging and exciting social media content – including regular posts, promotional series, themed posts for special events, and more.
We’re looking for someone with the following:
- A passion for social justice and a desire to address homelessness.
- Proficiency in photography and/or videography.
- Familiarity with design programmes to enhance visual storytelling and create unique content that tells our story.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.

We’re seeking a dynamic Social Media Volunteer to help expand our online presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, and explore other viable platforms. You’ll bring your creative flair to develop compelling posts, foster community engagement, and showcase the powerful stories of our guides. You’ll also have the chance to join our tours to capture and create unique content that tells our story.
Responsibilities of the Social Media Volunteer include:
- Craft engaging LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram posts weekly, with a strong focus on visual appeal.
- Design content highlighting our blogs, customer feedback, tour launches, and more.
- Create themed posts for special events (e.g., International Women’s Day).
- Help the team respond to comments and messages across platforms to foster meaningful connections.
- Develop an interactive content series to challenge stereotypes around homelessness.
- Attend walking tours to capture and produce content for social media.

- A passion for social justice and a desire to address homelessness.
