Local Stories: How a Haircut Changed a Homeless Man’s Life

I watched a lot of videos to combat boredom during lockdown and I came across this amazing video of a homeless man having his hair cut.

Now, you’re probably thinking “What’s so amazing about that?” Well, as the man is having a haircut and shave, captions tell the story of how he gave a passer-by directions when lost and took him to the place he was looking for.

Along the way, the homeless man told the lost person (who turned out to own a travel agency) that he had “amazing stories.” The lost person then had an idea… “Why not tell these amazing stories to others as a tour guide?” I’m paraphrasing there, but that’s what they did, they created a new tour company.

This got me thinking of how I became a tour guide with Unseen Tours (you can read that story on my UT homepage, just click on my photo and all will be laid bare).

I suppose the point I’m trying to make is that everybody has their own story and most of the time people who are homeless or are experiencing a vulnerable housing situation, barely get a chance to talk about these experiences. When we do, there can be a lot to learn from us.

Cheers
